"Making the Most of Internet Search Engines"
"Developing an E-commerce Web Site"
21st September at Cyberia Internet Cafe, London
This meeting covered two important issues: supporting
online payment and registering with search engines.
Russell Clarke from WorldPay talked about online payment.
At the moment there are many inhibitors to e-commerce including
perceived security problems, lack of support for global issues (multi-currency,
multi-language), difficulties obtaining card processing facilities
and cost. WorldPay have introduced a service called ClickAndBuild
which promises to tackle these issues.
For those of us without large real-world marketing
budgets, search engines provide an important channel for driving
people to our site. Richard Leader from Cyberia talked about the
techniques of search engine registration, including both the ones
that work and the ones that will get you banned!
Thanks to Cyberia for providing an excellent venue.
And thanks to the speakers for their interesting talks and provoking
a lively discussion.
