Thursday, 29th September 2005, 6:30pm
We have the pleasure of inviting you to attend the seminar entitled “Wireless
Networking Today – the Challenge for the IT Professional", presented
by Stef Coetzee (Senior Vice President International for NetMotion Wireless).
Abstract: Wireless networking is faster, cheaper and in greater demand by
organisations than ever before. Using wireless network connectivity for applications
enterprises can realise significant benefits such as:
- Business system reach to the point of action
- Increased
user productivity
- Improved organisational throughput through lower
operational overheads
- Improved control of expenses
However, deploying and managing an enterprise-wide wireless network can be
a challenging and risky technical undertaking.
Stef’s talk engages with the issues facing IT in extending applications
wirelessly in the context of trends in the industry. Based on feedback from
those who have tried, he will walk through a number of alternate approaches
as a backdrop to identifying the key attributes of a successful wireless deployment,
focussing on securing the data in transit. Various dimensions of the challenge
facing IT professionals are addressed, including requirements in the areas
of mobility, security, performance, usability and management control. The talk
will close with an illustrative case study from the health sector.
Pre-registration is required. Please return this completed registration form
